Puppies born! added by Kaj Gänger

Yesterday evening our Ch. Caratoots Charming Cassandra gave birth to six gorgeous puppies. In less than four hours she delivered three girls and three boys. All of them in good health, of good weight and size, fine markings, with blaces and dark mahogany colour. We are really pleased with the litter, and look forward to see them develop the coming weeks. They are sired by our Multi Ch. Caratoots Complete Coronation and our "Mindie" who is the best mother to puppies one can dream and ask for. She is a super mother! 22 January 2010

In memoriam Ch. Caratoots Convince Chantalle added by Kaj & Peter Gänger

It is with heavy hearts and sadness we wish to inform you that our veteran bitch Ch. Caratoots Convince Chantalle (Gizmo) is no longer with us. Although our hearts did not want to accept it into the very end, we had to realize that she would be better off to be put to sleep. Although her mind still was clear and joyful, her body was ultimately giving up on her. Gizmo was born on Kaj’s birthday June 12 in 1993 and has been part of our lives for sixteen and a half years. In comparable dog-years she would today be 122 years old. She was the great grand-daughter of Kaj’s first papillon, Carovers Tootsie, and many of the dogs living with us today are related to her in different generations. As it feels like she has always been with us, where ever we have lived, her absence is of course hard to comprehend. Still every time we call the dogs for feeding or taking them in from the garden, we call out also her name before realizing that she will not come anymore. We will remember her as a gentle and playful girl, who would never do anything mean or mischievous. She just loved everybody, regardless if they were known friends or strangers. She greatly enjoyed running around the garden playing with and barking at the soccer ball, chewing on pine cones and bones or chasing birds or frogs. Would she see a deer through the garden fence, she would excitingly keep looking for it for days. What we especially keep in our minds is her fascination for our garden fish pond. For hours she would walk around in the pond looking at the gold fish. In the beginning we were not too pleased with her splashing around there, but after some time we did not have the heart to stop her seeing how happy she was. You can imagine her frustration the first winter when the pond froze and she could only look at the fish through the crystal clear layer of ice. Not only has Gizmo contributed greatly in our breeding, giving birth to top winning offspring like Ch. Caratoots Captain Courageous, Ch. Caratoots Complete Charisma, Ch. Caratoots Count Christopher and Ch. Caratoots Captivating Conqueror. She has also herself done well in the show rings, acquiring championship titles in Sweden and Denmark, becoming Swedish Winner 2005, and placing herself seven consecutive years on the Top 10 Papillon lists. Especially during her veteran years she did very well, becoming BOB Veteran 68 times, BOS Veteran 8 times and BIG/BIS Veteran 28 times. Without checking facts we are sure this must be some kind of record. Although her hearing deteriorated the last years, she was not hindered by this. Not hearing she instead learned to understand hand signals, and during dark winter times we would blink with the garden flood lights and she would know it was time to come inside. Although she physically is not with us anymore, she will always stay close to our hearts. Fortunately her soul and spirit will also continue to live on in the offspring we still have around us. 'Sable dog, beautifully balanced of classical proportions, elegant and masculine, certainly demands attention, he caught my eye at the time he entered the ring, full ears in shape size & placement, excellent profile with good stop, fine muzzle, dark small eyes, fine bone, good shoulder placement giving good reach of neck, firm topline, silky single coat just of the right amount, extremely well presented, shows with proud headcarriage, absolutely sound coming and going, his attitude demands attention, very impressive' What more can one ask for! Presenting our new star - 'Chili' added by Peter Gänger

Please let us present the new rising star at Kennel Caratoots. Caratoots Cool Cayenne (also called 'Chili') was born on December 26, 2008. Her parents are Caratoots Checkpoint Charlie and Caratoots Classic Cameron. She entered her first show in Köping on July 19, kicking off with becoming BOB Puppy. Since then she has become BOB Puppy at the two following shows, and as if this was not enough, also BIS-1 Puppy at the Swedish Kennel Club International All Breed Dogshow in Ronneby and the day after BIS-5 Puppy at the Swedish Kennel Club National Dogshow in Askersund. This is a lady with great looks, but above all a super temperament and attitude. We are very pleased to have her in our papillon family, and you may see more of her at her new gallery page under the section 'Our Dogs' - 'Bitches'. 11 August 2009

Agility & game tracking achievements added by Peter Gänger

We are proud to let you know that Caratoots Complete Checkmate, also called Dennis, has made yet some achievements towards his championship titles in agility and game tracking. At the Bollnäs BK he came 2nd in a jumper class with no faults, and got his 1st jumpers certificate by judge Ms Gunilla Christensen. There were 21 starting dogs in his class. To get to the Swedish Championship games one needs to have 4 certificates in jumpers class and 4 in agility class. Just a few days after Bollnäs, Dennis got the 1st price in open class game tracking at the competition in Alnön Sundsvall (Svenska Bassetklubben, nord östra). The tracking was judged by Mr Bengt Olsson. To become a game tracking champion one needs 3 1st prices, of which one is achieved at an ordinary test (in time pre-defined and pre-entered test). This was a variable test, i.e. one calls the judge and decide on a suitable time. Helga Westerlind, the owner of Dennis, was perticularly proud of this achievement as the weather conditions were not very favourable (rain and wind making the tracking difficult). Dennis at game tracking added by Peter Gänger

On June 26, Caratoots Complete Checkmate (also called Dennis) passed the aptitude test in game tracking with excellence at Stäket (Stockholm). The track was 600 meters long, 4.5 hours old, with four angles and judged by Mr Göran Ädel from Upplands Dreverklubb. Game tracking is a simulation of tracking animals injured in traffic accidents or during hunting, and the track is laid with blood and the hoof of a roe deer. Gizmo 16 years old today! added by Peter Gänger

Our grand old lady Ch. Caratoots Convince Chantalle is celebrating her 16th birthday today. Both she and Kaj are born on June 12, but 'Gizmo' beats him by far, as she becomes 118 years (in comparable dog years). Although she needs a rest now and then and her hearing is somewhat impaired, it is hard to believe that she is so old. She still very much enjoys chasing birds and wandering around in our pond trying to catch the goldfish. What a joy it has been having her with us all those years, and we sincerely hope she will stay in full vigour yet another couple of years. Gizmo has placed herself on the Top 10 Winning Veteran list of Papillon-Ringen every year since 2001. An achievement hard to beat, wouldn't you say! Yesterday evening our Ch. Pearl Collection Pärlemo gave birth to three healthy and gorgeous puppies. The litter, consisting of two girls and one boy, is sired by our Ch. Caratoots Classic Commander. Both the mother and her puppies are doing just fine, and she is the best of mothers caring for her small babies. 12 June 2009
